Meditation helps us cope better with negative feedbacks.

In a recent study, published in the Journal of Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral Neuroscience, researchers from the University of Surrey have discovered a link between meditation and how we respond to feedback.

Participants in the study, comprising of non-meditators, novice meditators and experienced meditators, were put through various tests to determine how negative and positive feedback affect them.

The results from the study found that all the three groups responded similarly to the positive feedback, whilst it was not so with the negative feedback. The neurological response to the negative feedback was the lowest among the experienced meditators, followed by the novice group and then the non-meditators at the highest, clearly indicating that the meditators were the least affected by the negative feedback.

Previous studies involving Parkinson Disease, have shown that dopamine affects how we respond to feedback, signifying that the compound is crucial to how we learn and process information.

Based on the results of the present study, the researchers suggest that meditation may offer a way to affect the levels of dopamine in the brain and our ability to deal with positive and negative feedback. The results demonstrate that meditators handle both negative and positive feedback in a more even-handed way than the non-meditators.

Could meditation then be used to impact how we perform in our classroom or workplace?

Thanks for the comment and resteem, @reinaldoverdu. Stay blessed.

I totally agree, meditation can unlock so many things. It can be challenging to maintain a routine but I aim to do at least 10 minutes a day either in the morning or at night. I have discovered so many positive effects and encouraged my friends to do the same. Upvoted and resteemed!

Hey @blockshine, thanks for the comment, upvote and resteem. Glad to know that you are into meditation. What kind of meditation do you do? Were you initiated into it by a spiritual Master?

Dear @crypto.piotr,

I have never heard of Wim Hof breathing method and I just check it out after reading your comment.

In the Indian tradition, one gets initiated into meditation by a spiritual master for the sole purpose of spiritual growth. The person who initiates you should be a spiritual master as he knows what mantra or type of meditation is appropriate for you depending on your samskara .

As we meditate, along the way we may acquire some superpowers (i.e mastery over one or more of the 5 elements, which means the elements are now your servants and you are the master) but we are not to display it, unless permitted by our master and for only specific purposes that benefit humankind.

So the discipline is very strict.

By the way, most people are not aware that there are 112 methods of meditation. The meditation techniques that you see being practiced in the west revolves around 2 or 3 of these techniques, usually involving breathing or reciting a mantra.

Appreciate your amazing comment @devann

Have a great upcoming weekend

So you are actually saying that those who set their Monday peace or zero do care less what other people say. How about giving dopamine to aggressive people and the ones with low self-esteem people who cannot sleep?
