Are you a time traveller?

We are all constantly time travelling in our minds - hopping from what happened yesterday to what we must do tomorrow.  The past is often our point of reference while we plan ahead for the future.

Effectively by doing this we avoid living our life in the present and almost every big decision we make today will be based on past experience and/or with future outcomes in mind.  

Our busy minds are carrying a lot of unnecessary baggage  and we often get so bogged down that there's very little room to make way for any new energy or ideas. 

No wonder decisions are not easy, new ideas are handed to us daily, but pass us by because we already have too much on our mind!

As always I will be honest.

Living in the past only brings suffering and unhappiness.

Living in the future creates anxiety.

Living in the present is the only place one can find peace.

My philosophy, I believe in not wasting energy on what isn’t important by living in the present, rather than dwelling in the past where one cannot materially change anything. The present is the only place where change can take place. However, one  must reflect on their past now and again, but not to dwell there, because we must learn why we are why we are now, which what hindsight in wisdom is all about.

I live in the present for the most part, however I do have general anxiety disorder so it can be tricky when it is activated, because it then becomes about the future. At these times I need to work harder, but I have been meditating for some 35 years, thus have plenty of tools to facilitate peace in the present again.

People in general, will live in the past and future now, and again even if they won’t admit it. As humans we do not find it easy to live in the present 24/7 because we have not reached our best potential, and never will in a lifetime. We are a constant work in progress.
