How Can Meditation Heal Trauma?

in meditation •  7 years ago

Meditation is a relaxation practice that focuses the mind toward clarity and self-awareness by achieving inner peace and calm. Meditation creates an inner calm when practiced regularly, it helps to inspire one to awaken from and let go of everyday thoughts and emotions. It helps to create self-empowerment within onesself. When the mind and spirit are calm, one can make themselves better able to connect with the higher self. The higher self is the truer, most authentic self. It is where we find freedom and create a more powerful frame of mind to better deal with the outside world and bee free of the limitation that trauma can create. Meditation can help to build inner strength, to help build resiliance enabling better ways to deal witht he pain, anxiety, stress and fear that trauma leaves behind. When the mind and spirit are freed with meditation one feels less burdened and then can create a much more balanced life.

Goals in Healing Trauma with Meditation:

The person must realize that their trauma experience is not just their own.
Learn to identify the symptoms experienced that relate to the trauma.
Determine how practicing self-care can make a difference and create an effective plan to deal with the trauma.
Help clients to nurture their understanding in the bigger picture of how and why trauma has been affecting their behavior, health, emotions and social interactions.
Meditation in addition to phchological care can reap many benefits that pshchological care alone cannot reach.

The calming of the mind is a big step in allowing it to heal.
