Why I hate reading Steemit

in medium •  7 years ago

The lingua franca of technology is English. However, much of the epistolary contribution online today is penned by authors whose mother tongue is not. It is therefore not uncommon to find awkward construction, typographical errors and grammar issues that, frankly, distract the native speaker from engaging with the subject

on Medium, where I publish most of what I write, I will very frequently leave private notes for the author with corrections, suggestions, etc. My contributions to the work are often quickly accepted with a thanks. These small contributions establish me in the author's mind as someone who cares, who has obviously read the material, and allows for a more private connection, which is important to me as a means of being in the "in" crowd

sadly Steemit does not offer this feature (nor highlighting) and whilst I could air the author's dirty laundry in public in the form of a comment, that is tedious and gets lost in the general banter around the article

it's a pity because it's a small feature but it's one that matters to me a great deal
