Meetup #18 - Steemit BootCamp with Catalyst

in meetup •  7 years ago  (edited)

It's a fine Saturday morning and we're here for @maverickfoo's BootCamp in Sunway Nexis. There are quite a number of new faces today participate the BootCamp and as usual, the veterans are here to support the Bootcamp.

Morning Session

As some of the newcomers haven't got their account set up, @maverickfoo help them with the account creation through SteemInvite, while the rest settle down and get ready before the BootCamp started.

Once everything is done, the session started off with @coachmelleow giving a simple starting speech about his initiative, the Catalyst which collaborated with this BootCamp and thanks to Mr Geh for sponsoring the venue for the event as well. After the speech, it's a small icebreaker of introducing yourself to everyone as usual.

@coachmelleow saying "Hi" 😉

Once everything is done, we get right through @maverickfoo's quick explanation about the introduction of Steemit and fundamental about it to the newcomers. If you ever attend to any @maverickfoo's event, you will definitely understand how he never fails to amaze and entertain you with his talks, best of all you won't get bored with it.

Tea Break

After the introduction of Steemit, we have a short tea break session to let the information digest on our brain, filling some empty stomach, stretch the body and get to know each other more.

Afternoon Session

Now, this is where brainstorming, creativity and writing begin after the stomach has been filled up. @maverickfoo introduce us few methods and tools which are very useful for writing, idea generating and much more on the below,

  • The Importance of Your Steemit Keys
  • Password Tools & 2FA
  • 25-25-25 method
  • Idea Chunkenator
  • Free Image Sourcing Site
  • Image Editing Tools
  • Writing, Spelling & Grammar Tools
  • Tags & Categories

The fun part of the afternoon session is where participants trying out The Most Dangerous Writing App, this App trains writer to only write, you can't stop and think within the chosen time period if not you'll fail the session.

It begins with 3 minutes of softcore mode writing and another 3 minutes of hardcore mode writing which the background is blurred from the typing before all the participant can have their lunch as a small task.

Introducing The Most Dangerous Writing App

You are able to hear a few cursing words along the typing session which is very funny 😂 then you'll know some had failed but we encourage to try it again. @bitrocker2020, our Team Malaysia witness just arrived to support the Bootcamp as well

Lunch Session

Finally done with the writing and it's time to munch some yummy food which has been prepared outside, this time round participants are much more engaging than the previous break session as I can observe.

Summary Session

@bitrocker2020 has summarized Team Malaysia community works, Team Malaysia Past, Present & Future Initiatives & Events, Statistics of Authors & Payout Distributed, the Upcoming Major Event which will be announced by him soon and lastly a sing-along videoing session for @anomadsoul's music video.

@maverickfoo end the session with his sharing on how to build up followers and some example of Steemit tools & site that helps up during the journey and lastly a group photo outside of the room.
