Waiting to see Billy Dee Williams (Lando). Saw William B Davis, Annabeth Gish, and Mitch Pileggi as well as Chris Sarandon earlier today. The crowds should peak tomorrow with things winding up on Sunday. I'll post better pics and videos in the coming days (and weeks).

Williams came here to Edmonton about 5 years ago. I didn’t get his autograph at the time, because all of the autograph guests were crazy expensive. Regardless, it was great to see him there!

@shaungerow Yeah, I don't do the whole autograph thing but I like going to the Q&A Panels. Autographs have gotten absurdly expensive.

No seriously though, I have never paid for a commission and it wasn't until I met Neal Adams that I ever even paid for a signature (Havok first appearance, I had to). I don't remember when it switched, but cons definitely were "better" when I walked up to my favorite artist with a comic book backing board and asked them to draw Batman for me and he or she would. No asking me for money.

I understand that comics are way more popular. But I have now seen the switch to panels are more enjoyable, indie artists are better and better and the space they have at the con is so huge compared to what they used to be, so that is good. It does just stink that if you want to meet a Jim Lee or a Rob Liefeld, you will be shelling out quite a bit of money to be doing so.

Not to take away from these creators, because it does seem to be going into a supply and demand naturally with the popularity of their works, it just stinks for fans sometimes.

Well, I've been going to MegaCon so long that I can remember one year where we asked Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew for pictures after attending their panels and they were happy to do it. Now you would have to schedule a photo op and pay $100 at an absolute minimum. It wasn't really THAT long ago... Early 2000s I suppose...
