Brand New Meme Template: Me and The Middle Aged Boys

This is kind of an expectation vs reality meme for folks reaching middle age like me.

You know you're there when the metabolism starts to wane, belly starts too pooch, and energy levels generally remain on the down trend.

So, I remember the "Me and the Boys" meme making its run on Reddit a while back in a number of permutations many I think popping up from /r/PewDiePieSubmissions.

Here are some noteworthy examples of the template (the last one tickled me just now) from ZomboDroid meme generator.

It got me thinking about the "good old days" contrasted to how things are now where a good night is one in which I get some quality rest without our kiddos waking us up on the middle of the night. Obviously, the priorities shift as parents and late night partying isn't generally on the agenda.

Rarely, my wonderful mother will babysit giving me and my wife the night to have fun but I'm generally the type that likes going out as I am inclined to extroversion, albeit not consistently. (I also appreciate my alone time but who doesn't?)

Anything, this specific scenario hasn't actually played out but I thought it is relateable. The idea of slightly older dads getting together to party like the old days with a youthfully exuberant spirit only to find that spirit dashed by the reality that they are tired AF after putting the kids to bed.

Yes, this is our life now.

From clubbing and late night socializing to praying that you can catch Zs until you are able to hit that snooze button just one more time before you face the challenges of the next day. That's life. Best thing is to focus on putting one foot forward at a time and take it day by day.

I say this as a 5 yr "Second Award" father that, by no means, has it all figured. Actually, I think I'm making up a good portion of it as I go.

I will add it's not necessarily an old age meme. It could be any anticipated situation where you are super hyped and excited but, when it arrives, you are just not feeling it and are ready to take a nap.

Before I got to bed, going to try and implement a SE token claim function on the @steemflagrewards approval bot. I understand the unclaimed token rewards have been stacking and it only makes sense to claim and stake to make using the SFR bot a sweeter experience for our users.

Also, if boosta and Haejin + alts could stop flagging SFR for not going involved in y'all's whale wars, that would be great. Trying to force ppl to take sides seems like it would have the opposite of the intended effect. That's just psychology 101.
