Hey, i have been quiet on this topic for awhile, but after all this talk of 'cultural appropriation' lately, i can't help but wonder how western yoga practioners can call 'beer yoga' actually 'yoga'...
i have often thought that was i was teaching and practicing something different than what people in the west have claimed is yoga these days.
Maybe westerners should just re-label 'yoga' as 'yoga-inspired exercise' especially if they are going to pair it with intoxicants?
Not that there is anything wrong with intoxicants inherently...but...
just to demonstrate how ridiculous this is and how much it degrades yoga, consider heroin yoga!
i mean, why not?

DISCLAIMER:
*i don't mean any harm by this to any current addicts. i have experience with heroin and i have recovered from self destruction tendencies largely with the help of yoga and meditation, self examination and contemplation. i am not mocking the sincere addiction factor and tragedy associated, rather i merely want to provoke deeper thought on how yoga is being turned into a social fad in the west.
