Kinda feels weird when people ask you to upvote and follow them but when you go to their page they are not even attempting to create content. My stuff isn't that great but at least I am taking this seriously.

You can't get my follow or an upvote even if you are following me if you don't have anything worth me upvoting or following.
All these people do is unfollow you anyway and hope you don't realize. It. I'm a little bit smarter than the average person... I rather not get your follow in the first place.

Lol, I love it. Trust me, soooo many are right there with you. Even get some that comment but don't upvote anything but their own stuff. If people don't upvote my comment or content, then fine. But don't expect people to give you their vote either. We catch on to that real fast.

You shouldn't have to say it. Anytime someone follows me I check thier page out and I follow if it's relevant to me. I want my feed to make sense for me. And I can explore other topics and people outside of my feed
