I came up with "proxy memes", memes that act in the place of something else. It can be good to have words sometimes to describe things and reason. You can recognize a proxy meme when all it does is prevent attention paid to the meme it substitutes. The word "proxy meme" is a portmanteau describing a "proxy war for the mind". A proxy war is fought to avoid fighting the actual war, and, in the same way, a proxy meme becomes the subject of attention to avoid focusing on the actual topic that it substitutes, often serving as a pacifier within a social dominance hierarchy, a false narrative that is agreed upon, a majority delusion, that only exists to avoid breaking rank, enforced by the serotonin system.
