Friend, this is out in the open theft. Also known as shameless capitalism. You aren't bothered by it, so it's super rampant in all layers of life!

The steem concept is broken until the densest among us catch up to the truth about the difference between money and currency, and that steem is only special if the majority of us use it to transcend money back into true currency.

Steem is about replacing the trappings of capitalism with the comfort of the Golden Rule, which most activity here thus far certainly violates. This is the result of greedy capitalism and the producer belongs in a money pit not to be held in high eSteem.

This inverted behavior and result is how things will Be until the densest among us choose to support each other rather than emulate this exact behavior in search of money while sacrificing eSteem. 💛

Even though I wouldn't do it myself, I don't blame the people who abuse the reward pool.

If you distribute $65M in a year for posting, commenting, and upvoting on a website like Steemit, what do you expect?

Do you think everybody's going to come here and upvote only content that's worth it? There'll be people who are going to take advantage of it.

Good luck trying to flag all of these abuse posts. It's a pathetic whack-a-mole game. As soon as you flag one, ten others will pop-up. No way around this in the current system.

This system is designed to fail. I really have a difficult time what people investing in Steem are thinking. Do they think that investing in a platform that blows off 6.5% of their investment on a content like this in a year is ever going to make money?

Are the content providers victim, because they don't get paid what they deserve?

No one owes you anything. If you don't like what you're paid here, there are thousands of other websites to post your content and thousands of other ways of to monetize your content. No one guaranteed you any income here.

Are the investors the victim, because they lost 60% of their investments since the height of the market in January 2018?

I'd almost say, yes, but I wouldn't. Because it's investors' duty to do their due diligence. After spending one week on this site, it was obvious to me that it was bleeding cash and wasn't investable in its current form.

Are the users who have to search for hours to come across a single piece of content that is worth their 3 minutes to read?

Are you kidding me? There are millions of websites and you have to spend your time here? Why?

You might ask why I still hang around here, because this platform has some potential and perhaps, we'll be able to build a community and successfully make the necessary demands to turn it around.

Steem is both a test and an opportunity for humanity to transcend money back into true currency.

You are right that we are failing for expected obvious reasons, seemingly rigged like you're saying.

It's up to us to come together and enforce the difference between eSteem and Money. Simple as that. We don't allow steem to become money, we laugh at posts such as this until the truth is established as the only Way to Be.

The problem with Steemit is, it is doing exactly what the libertarians are criticizing in governments, that is redistributing other people's money.

Most investors aren't aware that those extra coins created every year to be distributed to the authors and curators as rewards are actually a form of tax on their investments.

This tax amounts to 6.5% of their investments in a single year and a good deal of that tax is blown away to content like this.

I have already written some posts about how to change this system and I'll keep writing. So, I think I'm doing my share of work to fix this system.

You can find it in their official FAQ. https://steemit.com/faq.html#How_are_the_new_tokens_distributed

75% [of the 9.5% annual inflation] go to the reward pool, which is split between authors and curators.

If you do the math:

0.75 * 0.095 / 109.5 = 0.065

Hence, the 6.5%.

Most people aren't aware that inflation is a form of tax and I plan to write a post about that later today.

A little too simple if you ask me. How do you take into account the anual decrease at 0.5%, the 10% for the witnesses and the 15% for the steem power holders? As an investor not being a witness and not powering up, the inflation would still be at approximately 9% this year.

Here is a formula that takes into account the annual decrease at 0.5%:

0.75 * (0.095 - 0.005 * (CurrentYear - 2017)) / (1.095 - 0.005 * (CurrentYear - 2017))

InflationTax(2018) = 6.19%

It comes down to 6.19% instead of 6.5%.

I don't have any problems with the payments to the witnesses or steem power holders.

It's a decentralized system and someone has to power the system. Witnesses do that.

If you think that the witnesses don't deserve their 10% cut and if you explain me why, I'm willing to listen.

15% payment for the Steem Power holders is just a dividend for holding an illiquid asset, which takes three months to liquidate.

At the end of the day, that 15% only provides an advantage over regular Steem holders, who have the advantage of holding an liquid asset that can be sold immediately.

By the way, even if we consider 9% inflation, it's corresponding tax would be calculated as the following:

0.09 / 1.09 = 8.26%

PS: All results rounded for simplicity.

I'm commenting on the uselessness of the post itself and how for some reason you've gotten over 850 votes and nearly $1,000 for it.

I've seen and read some incredible content here, but for some reason those with great content aren't getting recognized and therefore paid accordingly for that quality. Yet here, you've posted literally nothing!

I hate seeing those individuals posting great content, having that content be so blatantly disrespected. If we keep rewarding this nonsense in the way we have here, I believe, because it is such a tremendous insult to real content, we are eventually going to start losing followers and believers in the Steemit community altogether!

I completely agree! I'm stunned at the disregard for OTHERS HIGH QUALITY content...
I'm only voting Good or Excellent posts from now on that include, high quality content beneficial to the Steemit #community and #blockchain -
I'm hopeful that if we all jump on board with this initiative , we can collectively help towards eradicating plagiarism and low value content, and intern, attract new users that will provide high quality content for the platform.
Maybe I'll be creating a curating trail with this in mind.

Aren't we all responsible for our doings? In my eyes the fact that it's their business doesn't justify they're supporting abuse. Maybe blogging is my business, too, even though I vote manually and don't have a bot that does it on my behalf. Still I curate carefully according to the rules and being aware of the impact.

I don't think it's our job to balance bidbot owners' mistakes. Why do we have to spend our VP in order to flag the spam they upvoted, while they just cash out their SBD and don't care about anything but their own success?

There is a heavy disequilibrium of responsibility. The result is an entrance hall called trending page full of trash. If this was my website, I'd be really concerned.

It could be handled either way. Large stake users can flag it as they have the most to lose.
The bot owners might look around and see they are going to lose support if they don't review how the bots are being used.
Everyone can fight about it, to help find their position, and the voting bots are just "this weeks battle" the trending page was already a joke. Now it is just impacting those who feel entitled to be on it.

I'm glad it's evident now that something needs to be done.

It's not us who have to assume responsibility for the obvious lack of control in vote trading.

Have you seen that not only one bidbot owner has reacted so far? They obviously don't care about anything but their own financial outcome. The trending page is full of trash and spam, and it seems that we all agree that it's great the way it is.

I see the bid bots as the direct result of how the reward pool and the choosen few have managed voting and supporting the community up until now.

I am supportive of the bot owner who is trying to consider the effect his bot is having on the community.

It is absolutely "Us" who have to take responsibility.

I believe everybody is responsible for their own VP, no matter if you are a bidbot owner, investor, developer, curator or content creator. If I mistakenly upvote an abusive piece of content, it's me who has to remove the upvote, independently of the financial consequences.

Obviously bidbots are flourishing due to an imperfect distribution of influence in the eco-system. But that's a different story.

My VP's at 65% now after flagging abusive content several times, while not not only one of those who boosted this abusive content to the top has even considered removing their votes. While we lose power, they cash out their SBD.

To me that's definitely not the way it should be.

I like you, but I have to challenge that...

How many days have you enjoyed full voting power with out flagging anyone? It seems like you were fine with what was on the trending page until recently.
Many were not. It is subjective.
So, finally something you don't like is happening, I think it is fine for you to use your voting power to help correct it.

By the way, this applies to everyone. Not just you.

You are right, distribution of rewards is subjective. Is abuse subjective, or do we have something like an unwritten law we agree on? I have no idea. I thought we all agreed on not supporting scam, spam, liars, plagiarists, etc. Maybe we didn't agree on that.

I think I have never enjoyed of full VP ever :-) But then it was mostly because I upvoted and not downvoted that much.

I've been here a couple months and the insincerity is the first thing that stood out. There are people who share thoughtful comments and you can tell they're just trying to get a vote, but at least they put some time and effort into what they're saying.

The group that bugs me are basically e-beggars with lazy, low-effort "thank you for posting"-type content. It's like chicks fishing for compliments and attention on Insta, but instead of putting SOME work into a cute photo they just snap a pic of themselves laying in bed, messed up hair and face pushed back showing off the double chin.

OK, flysky,

I'm changing my opinion on this and other posts like it. After looking at the totality of your other posts, I realized something. Perhaps, we who are poo pooing this post are missing the point and therefore the mark in our disgust. Steemit, isn't just a place to get the same "deep penetrating", incredibly useful to our lives info we get for other outlets. Steemit, is about "our live".

We are a community and as a community, connected to one another, like it or not. So some feel more connected to the community than others and in that connectedness, have chosen to bring others in a deeper way, into their lives and in some cases, every aspect and small detail of that life. Whether that be, having coffee in the morning or our kids having the flu and we taking them for soup. It is this connectedness that makes us different and in a lot of ways better than or more than just, social media!

I applaud you for your fearless openness. And I'm changing to an upvote on this post!
