HELLO STEEMANIANS!!
The fact that we all age has got me thinking. Do men go through menopause just like women? I mean is there something like male menopause at all!
I set off for some research an here is what I found out.
Unlike women, perhaps, the idea of menopause has remained one of the most contentious topics about men's health for over a decade now. It is a debate that has been received with a bad taste by many critics bashing it as a myth. In fact, others have gone as far as labeling it as a non-issue or a sideshow by health professional wannabees.
However, experts in the sector have strongly refuted such arguments with what they termed as factual findings from numerous studies backing the claim that men, just as women, are also victims of menopause. They call it the male menopause. However, even with these findings, the differences in opinions regarding this issue are far from over. While a section of scientists appear to suggest that this is a natural change in men, others are of a contrary opinion. The progressive confrontations by experts is what has left many people in a dilemma, torn and unclear of who holds the truth.
The consequence of this pull and push void of compromise among experts now stands as the male menopause controversy. Although there is no clarity in the matter, some of the arguments surrounding this topic are, however, provocative. They prompt the desire to question whether the middle-age changes are only feminine, or whether they could actually have a masculine side. It is a question that has obviously lingered in the minds of many indicating that men might not be an exception after all.
Comparing the sudden and often sharp changes experienced by women to those of men as they both advance in age could be the reason many continue to cast doubt on the existence of menopause among the latter. Considering that such a drastic shift in hormones is clearly inexistent among men, this will continue to appear contentious to the eyes of critics. However, experts say otherwise. They state, if only people can understand testosterone, then this argument would definitely get clearer because this is the hormone that plays a significant role in the sprout of male menopause.
As age advances, androgen or testosterone levels in men gradually drops. The consequence of this decline is a similar falling-off in sexual drive, muscle mass, among other aspects. The only striking difference from that of women is that there is no sharp precision of when it commences. However, the fact is that over time, men start suffering various typical symptoms such as depression, fatigue, weight gain, impaired concentration and waning confidence. All these have a direct attribution with declining male hormone secretion levels.
Although this is not a common phenomenon among men, with the high prevalence of related complaints among men, it is opportune time that critics re-evaluate their perspectives on this issue. Disregarding it without thoroughly analyzing the existing as well as emerging facts may eventually be a shocker for them when they finally realize that the male menopause controversy, as they call it has incontrovertible truth about male menopause. Therefore, this dispute has uncovered little-known depths of whether male menopause really exists.
AND THIS IS NOT THE END, MY RESEARCH CONTINUES. Be on the lookout for more.
