How to choose the best men’s custom made suits tailor

in mens •  7 years ago

In old times, it was easy for a man to pick a suit or choose a tailor. There weren’t much fashion, and the options for tailor were also far less than what you have today at your disposal. Also, it was the time when children were used to of going to tailors to whom their father or grandfather went, or even ask a notable salesman to introduce to a decent tailor. However, with the increase in fashion in the modern era and the ever incrementing number of dressmakers, the task has been taken to a whole new level.

The good garment maker can understand things about which an average salesman may not even have any knowledge. He will be able to take care of the task and craft a suit exactly as you have dreamed about it. On the other hand, giving the task to an incompetent individual would ruin your suit and waste your time. There might be problems with stitching, fitting, and even the design might not be as accurate as you have seen it in copies or in pictures. Thus, it is pretty critical matter and might be more sensitive than you think of it. So, you need to know how to choose the right tailor, and it is exactly what we are going to talk about in this article.

Equip yourself with appropriate knowledge

In the modern era, there are different styles and various designs. People from all over the globe, belonging to the different culture and various locations, have their own style. There are diverse ways in which an individual may present himself of herself. Therefore, you need to know about all the styles and stuff. Talking about men's custom made suits, there are a lot of variations in it. They are available in different styles to you. There is a variety of designs and numerous ways in which it can be stitched. Keeping in your eyes at all these, when going for a custom suit, it is your responsibility to let tailor know how you want to look. Before you spend some bucks, it is necessary for you to sit down and browse the internet to see the styles, trends, designs, and acquire adequate knowledge about the topic.

Ask for the recommendations

If you go to a good tailor who has been around for a while, the chances are that he would have sewed a number of suits for people with various requirements and he will also be aware of the hot trends. These are the individuals who have to keep up with the latest fashion all the time because they are likely to be presented a picture and a client would say ‘I need a suit like this,’ and they can only say yes if they know about it. So, once you have finalized what you need, go to your tailor and put up the requirements. Then ask him for the recommendations. See what are the changes that he asks you to make and how he suggests that the suit will look even more amazing. The discussion can make you change your mind. However, make sure that you do not go for any unnecessary alteration. There are tailors who will ask you for a change in the idea just because they can’t sew like that or they wish that you vary your mind.

Communication with tailor

Moving one step ahead, you might want to stay in contact with the tailor throughout the time you purchase the cloth and then give size and do every pre-requisite. In all the process, if your tailor cannot communicate appropriately, it will lead to some serious troubles. There are times when the size may go slightly up or down and even instances when there might be a problem regarding the design of the suit. You might ask him for one pocket in a coat while two on pants and it may go opposite because you weren’t clear about that. And even if an inch is added or subtracted from the measurements, the suit might be of no use to you. The main reason why people go for custom fits is that they want to be crystal clear about the size and ensure that it is exactly according to their needs. And if the size is not right or there are issues with the design then what difference it will be in buying it from the market and ordering custom apparel? If this is the case then perhaps buying from the market is a better option!

Order and delivery

Once you are done with the communication and have sent him the right measurements, now it is time for you to proceed with the order and wait for the delivery. The tailor should keep up with the order and follow the deadlines accordingly. He must not be doing anything wrong when it comes to stitching and sewing. One must follow the order exactly as it is given and if there are any changes to be made then first he should take your consent. He should make it clear that when you are going to get the  suits and must not delay it as mostly, people go for the suits on special occasions such as parties, meetings, and other personal or public functions.

Satisfaction and after sales

The after sales service is another matter that many individuals neglect when selecting tailor for mens custom-made suits. It is critical in this business, and people must not overlook it. What if you sent the measurements right, but it was a tailor who made a mistake? What if an inch is more or less? Were the design and style appropriate? All these things count as a slight mistake can ruin your suit. If the problem was from the side of the tailor, he should either make adjustments, or he must pay for the new suit. If it is from your side, you should take the responsibility and request him to adjust the suit or get a new for yourself. There are tailors that are kind enough to make some improvements free of cost. But even if they are asking for money and it is your fault, then you must feel no hesitation in paying for it.
