"Beautiful" Carole King Musical and Mental Health

I recently attended the Carole King musical called "Beautiful". My mother had tickets and I thought it could be good especially because I don't know much about Carole King music. I ended up enjoying the play quite a bit I think because I say it not knowing much. I was paying attention much more to the relational parts of the play. Especially with alot of repression in the dating department and this play occurring during a time period in which my mother thinks should return I was playing close attention to a lack of attention to the mental health issues of the characters. Like how Carol King was just marrying the first guy she met after getting pregnant and how her husband left her most likely due to his own mental health struggles likely caused by the repressive environment of the era. In some ways I say my repression is worse now because this is not the 1950's 60's timeframe, but then again at least then maybe in that era I wouldn't be so alone in my struggles.carole_king.jpg
