From the moment we nurse the idea of that dream job we desire, there's a hidden belief that it will satisfy us once we're able to secure it. However, most times, this is not the case because the satisfaction we desire are in other places other than the job where we seek it. This satisfaction may be emotional and/or psychological; which our jobs cannot provide. So we see a lot of people grow grumpy at their jobs because of unmet expectations.
We expect our colleagues to be our family, our bosses to be our friends and so on. Sorry to burst your bubble, this is not true and can never be true especially if we're employees of a 9-5 job because any perceived care, love and attention we receive at work is towards our fulfilling our job role and never to us as individuals. The instant we're not able to perform those roles, an alternative is sought after. A boss does not ask "how are you" because s/he cares but because s/he wants to ascertain our state of health and availability to do the work.
Therefore, don't get emotional about your work and/or work environment. Those who are emotionally detached from their work tend to do more. Let's love what we do and do it with honour with little or no expectations emotionally.
