“Pray, brethren, that our sacrifices may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.”
Many of us, if not all, pray and attend the mass to ask God to provide us with our daily bread – our needs. But for some, luxury is what is usually asked for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking. After all, He is our Provider and He loves us so dearly.
However, we have asked God to provide us with all these almost every day. And we know for a fact that even if we fail to ask, He still never fails to provide. So, why not give a new dimension in our Sunday mass attendance? Why not offer simple sacrifices? Something that will bring us more closely to God. Something that will please Him in a better way.
According to the Holy Father, Pope Francis, the Lord’s most powerful message is mercy. So, let us join our hands and respond to this call of mercy, and make these our simple sacrifices. Here are few things we can do to perform mercy:
- M-ake your enemies your friends (forgive)
- E-xtend a hand (help/serve)
- R-emove hatred (love)
- C-loth the unclothed (donate)
- Y-ell for truth (teach)
There are still many ways to show mercy and compassion to our brethren. You can think of more and add these to your list, not the bucket list you wish to have, rather the list of Acts of Sacrifices. So that when you attend the Holy Eucharist again, you know that you have shared an acceptable sacrifice, a perfect one.
