In Uckermark, (Groß-Fredenwalde, Brandeburg) there's a Mesolithic burial site for which I'm curating the graphic content in collaboration with Ucki Steinzeit, archaeologist prof. Thomas Terberger and his team: here are some concepts I'm happily working on!
Reconstruction from a 4 years child's cranium with a red deer's teeth ornament, discovered in Groß-Fredenwalde, made from this reference:
Standing upright into eternity: burial stages' reconstruction
-early studies of the burial site-
One of the burials is extremely interesting for the peculiar position of the young man found in it: he's been disposed in upright.
Together with the excavation team we've created an approximation of the funeral stages, and reconstructed the phases of decaying and collapsing of the bones:
And here's a couple of scenes I'm working on:
'The big catch'
'Fishing with grandma'
Thank you, whoever you are, for your interest in my work!
In the next post I'll talk about the many references I've gathered for this project, and the work-flow of an illustrator!
Kiz!
