According to Reuters, Argentinian striker Lionel Messi has signed a contract with French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) that involves paying part of his fee in cryptocurrency PSG.
It is currently unknown exactly how much money Messi will receive in cryptocurrency as part of his two-year contract with PSG. The token the footballer will receive is Paris Saint-Germain's own cryptocurrency, the Paris Saint-Germain Fan Token (PSG). After the news of Messi's move, the coin has already managed to rise in price by 20% and now ranks 316th in terms of capitalization on CoinMarketCap.
The Argentinean himself has already participated in cryptoinitiatives. Recall that in 2017, Lionel Messi acted as an ambassador for Sirin Labs, a developer of cryptocurrencies FINNEY.
Will soccer teams with their tokens now include them in players' contracts?
