Jesus the messiah from Bethlehem: Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf. Micah 5:2

Micah was a minor prophet who was a contemporary of Isaiah and prophesied the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah due to the corruption of their leaders. This prophet decisively opposed the prevailing oppression that was contrary to the love of God; and his texts, due to their importance, influenced even King Hezekiah and his reform.
But one of the things that stands out most in the book of this prophet is a prophecy referring to the birth of Jesus, this prophet anticipated the birth of the promised messiah in the city of Bethlehem. A messiah who would be the very personification of peace, and who would bring with him a new message to shepherd his people, according to the words of the prophet. Micah was a prophet not only of the spiritual love but also of hope.
This is how the Book of Micah tells the prophecy about Lord Jesus:
"But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
are only a small village among all the poeple of Judah.
Yet a ruler of Israel,
whose origins are in the distant past,
will come from you on my behalf.
The people of Israel will be abandoned to their enemies
untile the woman in labor gives birth.
Then at last his fellow countrymen
will return from exile to their own land.
And he will stand to lead his flock with the LORD's strength,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.
Then his people will live there undisturbed,
for he will be highly honored around the world.
And he will be the source of peace" Micah 5:2-5.
This prophecy of Micah according to the gospel of Saint Matthew had a profound influence in the christian faith, because when King Herod was informed of the birth of the child Jesus by the three wise men who sought the child; Herod consulted the high priests and scribes who mentioned specially this prophecy to the King (Matthew 2:6). In Christianity this type of prophecies has a deep spiritual sense, because God through prophecies makes men known his plan of predestination.
