You could remember me mentioning many times that a powerful and confident presence will surely win battles in a sensitive situation. The first impression is formed at a glance and it is not all the same what the other party thinks about you. Your confident appearance significantly influences the perception, the judgement and the decision-making processes of the other person.
Just look at this experiment done by the Brain Games crew at National Geographic Channel to see that in a simple game even the very obvious 50-50 chance may be distorted by the behaviour and outfit of the other party. We might overestimate our chances if the other seems hesitant and weak.
