#ConsenSys's #Ethereum (ETH) wallet #MetaMask has exceeded 5 million active users per month.
ConsenSys stated that MetaMask has grown fivefold in the last six months, thanks to the increased use of decentralized finance (DeFi) and immutable token (NFT) applications. In October 2020, MetaMask had over 1 million cumulative MAUs (active users).
ConsenSys said that an increasing number of users are using the MetaMask Swaps feature the most. Released last October, this feature allows users to exchange tokens between decentralized exchanges, aggregators and market makers directly from their wallets.
ConsenSys points out that another major reason behind the increased usage is #NFTs.
India and Indonesia are both among the top 5 countries for MetaMask mobile adoption, according to the data. ConsenSys stated that Vietnam and Nigeria are also in the top ten. The company used the following statements:
“People use MetaMask to earn additional income or to make long-term investments. Many of them cannot access the local banking system and therefore need alternative technology to act as savings accounts. ”
MetaMask was launched in 2016 and was only available as a desktop browser extension until 2019. The beta process of mobile applications started in 2019. In September 2020, the official application for both iOS and Android was released.
