Thunderstorms Heavy Rains Into Tonight Weather Improves Somewhat Saturday

Radars have loaded up ahead of the cold front and we have some clusters of heavy downpours and some strong thunderstorms that have developed. The regional radar show them moving up through parts of New Jersey and heading into Long Island and Southern New England. Tornado Watch is posted for counties in SW New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania as they have entered into the warm sector. We don't expect to see that area extended northward but as the cold front approaches more showers and thunderstorms are coming for the evening commute and the first part of tonight.

REGIONAL RADAR

The local radars show a cluster of heavy thunderstorms moving across NYC, Nassau County and Southern Westchester and extending into much of Southwest Connecticut. There is another cluster developing in Southwest New Jersey. On the regional radar an arm of showers and possible thunderstorms are moving east across Pennsylvania and that is the batch for this evening and tonight.

The storms and downpours to the west will move through between 5pm and 10pm and then weather conditions should improve from west to east overnight. Saturday we are looking at clouds and some sun with gusty winds and the chance for a passing shower. It will be a cool day with highs just in the 50s to near 60. The next system arrives on Sunday with cloudy skies, chilly conditions and the chance for some rain from North Jersey north and east across Long Island and in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. Most highs in this area will be in the 40s to some lower 50s. Warmer temperatures into the 60s with just clouds and some breaks of sun will occur in the southern half of New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
