Hola amigos! Have you heard of Mexican Day of The Dead or Dia de Muertos? It's a very special holiday in Mexico that goes back to Pre-Hispanic times and deeply a part of Mexican culture.

To outsiders a day of celebrating death, the dead or departed may seem strange and even macabre, but it really isn't. The meaning of the holiday is to celebrate the life of those no longer with us. It's a day for remembering our loved ones just a little more, it's a day for connecting to their energy and letting them know they have not been forgotten.

We eat many special foods for this lively celebration, things like tamales, pozole and desserts like breads and this pumpkin treat you see here -- just to name a few of the foods on offer.

The Day of The Dead holiday coincides with the pumpkin harvest so they play an important part of the celebrations. This sweet treat is called candied pumpkin and it's just pumpkin slices cooked in a sweet and spiced syrup that will fill your senses and most definitely your stomach.

The recipe is very simple and anyone can make it. Here let me share my video guide recipe.

Tell me, have you ever heard of this holiday? Or have you ever celebrated it?
