Mexico, War, and a new future?

Felipe Calderón’s presidency had dramatic militarization and escalation conflicts with drug cartels and organized crime. The death toll of about 121,000 homicides, eighteen times the number of Americans who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan. This war made the issues of drug trafficking, impunity, and violence the important factor governing life in many parts of the country. Poverty also started rising again as inequality sharply increased. The new presidency of Lopez Obrador begins 12/1/18.
