Hima Das breaks records of Milkha Singh and PT Usha, gold in IAAF competition

in mgsc •  7 years ago

Prior to Hima Das, no Indian or junior or senior player of India could win gold or any medal in the world championship at any level. Milkha Singh and PT Usha were unable to do this act.

India's Hima Das gave history by winning gold medal in the IAAF track competition. He won gold at the women's 400 meters of IAF World Under-20 Championship in Tampere, Finland on Thursday.

Obviously, the best performance before Hima Das was that of Milkha Singh and PT Usha. PT Usha secured fourth place in the 400-meter Hurdle race in the 1984 Olympics. At the same time, Milkha Singh was ranked fourth in the 400m race in the 1960 Rome Olympics.

Hima was at the sixth place in the 400m competition of the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast in April with the then Indian Under 20 record at 51.32 sec. In the same Commonwealth Games 4x400 meter competition, he finished seventh. In the National Inter State Championships recently in Guwahati, he improved his record with 51.13 secs. He did gold medal in his name.
