Webchain is a blockchain that makes the most of the untapped CPU resources of internet-connected devices to secure Smart-Contract-powered DApps. This is done by registering public transactions through an egalitarian Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism based on a modified version of CryptoNight, which uses the community of website users as the low-impact processing grid for applications.

Through Webchain, the use of smart contracts becomes more mainstream, acknowledging the huge benefits that decentralized apps can offer to today’s internet.

When blockchains were first created, no one was able to foresee the monopoly that ASICs would create, or that instead of blockchain technology becoming a way for the masses to be financially independent, it could become a way for the wealthy to accumulate more wealth. There are over 1.5 billion websites delivering millions of services every second; each of them could be helping to secure a future where the internet is decentralized and monopoly-free.

How to mine $WEB on your Intel i3/i5/i7 or AMD CPU Laptop or Desktop?

1 - Download the GUI Wallet according to your OS and install it.
2 - Open the wallet and follow set directions to configure wallet & generate new WEB address.
3 - Once you have created a new address or registered your existing one, you will be on the accounts module, where you can manage your accounts, add new ones, send or receive WEB, and see your transactions record.

4 - Pool and Payments:

We currently have 2 pools, according to the hashing difficulty.
a) pool.webchain.network:3333, with 20000 difficulty
b) pool2.webchain.network:2222, with 5000 difficulty

If your device is slow, you should set the second pool as predetermined in config.json. There are other parameters that can be set up in config.json: number of threads, max-cpu-usage, etc. You can do it before you continue with this guide.

5 - Mining: Introduction:

There is a new block every 10 second, approximately. In order to mine WEB coins:
A) Download the miner binary for your system from here https://github.com/webchain-network/webchain-miner/releases

Select one according to your OS: 32win or 64win or Linux
B) Unpack it and open config.json , which is our miner configuration file.
B.1) In config.json, you need to add your wallet number:

"user": "YOUR_WALLET"
B.2) Add your address/wallet number, including the suffix “0x”.
E.g. "0x57c266a075224f3ca76d1f550243be0c45d9fc1f ",
Remember to add the prefix “0x” to your account, so if your account is 57c266a075224f3ca76d1f550243be0c45d9fc1f,
you would need to add it this way: 0x57c266a075224f3ca76d1f550243be0c45d9fc1f

Your JSON file will look like this:
json_file.jpg

C) We’re ready to start mining, follow one of these options:
C.1) Start the miner by running the command:
LINUX:

./webchain-miner

WINDOWS:

webchain-miner.exe
C.2) Double-click on “webchain-miner.exe”

You’ll get information about the miner and the pool you’re trying to mine.
