Sukhna Lake - The Wonderful Tourist Place Of Chandigarh

Sukhna Lake is situated in the Indian state of Chandigarh. It is a man-made lake which extends into the area of 3 sq km. This lake was constructed in 1958, by constructing a dam on the water coming down from the Shiwalik hill. Earlier, it used to fall into a direct rainy water and for this reason many times it was stored siltation in it. To prevent this, 25.42 kilometer square land was acquired and forest was imposed in it. In 1974, choe water was turned on the other side and arrangement was made to clean water in the lake.

The construction of Sukhna Lake was planned by the architect Le Corbusier and his team planning Chandigarh.
