Can I take my Cat/Dog with me in Indian Railways ??

We get so attached to your pets that we don't want to be away from them and feel like having them with us all the time.

But what if you have to make a long journey by train.

Can we take them with us?

The Answer is "YES" but there are some rules and guidelines that have to be followed and you will have to pay a small amount to railways.

For different animals the charges are different and there are few animals that cannot travel with you in your compartment they have to go in the luggage van.

List of Animals in decreasing order of there size.

Yes, you can take a elephant as well in Indian railways it will cost you Rs 1500 and the animal will go in the luggage van.

Horse Rs 750 and it will have to be in the luggage van

Cow Rs 200 and it will have to be in the luggage van

Similarly for MULES, CAMELS and HORNED CATTLES = Rs 200
DONKEY, SHEEP, GOAT and BIRDS= Rs 30

All animals apart from Dog, Cat and birds in cage can travel with you in your compartment with a condition that you have to travel by AC first class only also if the co-passengers are not comfortable with it then your pet will be moved to the luggage van immediately so you will have to talk to the co-passenger , usually AC first call have 2 seats and you have both the seats then you should not face any issues

Note: If you are found travelling with your pet in any coach other than AC 1st class then you will be fined, the fine is 6 times the amount animal fare that is the fare to carry a dog is 30 so the fine will be 30*6= 180
