Software has become an integral part of our lives. Software-driven products and applications are being used by companies across many different industries.

Increased adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has increased the demand for IT professionals adept at different programming languages. So if you don’t know how to code yet, better late than never!

No programming language can be dubbed as the 'best', but this list will give you an idea about the most in-demand programming languages that will brighten up your job prospects.

  1. Python

Python is a high-level programming language that has one primary feature, its code readability. It is a general purpose language, which means that it can be used for almost anything. Great for web development, servers and desktop application, Python is a must-know language for every programmer. It is such a scalable language and is used by top companies like Google, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, Dropbox, etc.

  1. Java

Knowing Java, a popular programming language is going to be helpful for all aspiring programmers. Additionally, learning Java will never be a futile exercise; the programming language is going to stay around for quite some time. It is mainly used to develop desktop applications, games, and mobile applications, which means that it has a great scope in your career. Most Java-oriented job positions are also high paying.

  1. C++

It is one of the oldest programming languages, C++ is so versatile that it can be used to code small programs or even large applications. It has high-demand due to the major benefits it provides like great reliability, fast performance and the sheer number of contexts it can be used in. The only downside is that this language is pretty hard to learn on your own. It will all be worth it though, look at the companies using C++, Facebook, Chrome, Adobe System, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.

  1. JavaScript

This is a scripting language and often used to make websites more interactive. JS has several advanced features as compared to the conventional C++ and Java-like modules, prototypal inheritance, namespaces, and meta programming. Applications such as Google Maps and Gmail are run on JavaScript. You cannot be a programmer and not know this dynamic language.

  1. Swift

This language is relatively new (released by Apple in 2014), but has had a robust growth since, proving that it has a bright future. It is also one of the easiest languages to work with, hands down!
