What is "missing girls" and "Unwanted girls"?

A desire ,love for a male child is a curse for our Indian society ."killing of a girl child in a womb is termed as missing girl" by the Indian government, when government put a ban on the determination of sex of the foetus ,a new term was listed in the survey of Indian government ""UNWANTED GIRLS"" .Its mean a family giving birth to so many girls just for a desire of a male child as a result of this these girls were neglected by the family they were not send to the school ,even no medical care was given.
"" India Has 21 Million 'Unwanted' Girls Due to Preference for Sons"".yes you read it correctly the data shows 21 million unwanted girls and a number to make us pay attention to a societal problem, India has 63 million “missing women.” just a shame on our society.

"India must confront the societal preference, even meta-preference for a son, which appears inoculated to development," these were the lines on the government's annual economic survey, presented to parliament.
Many couples have a girl when they were hoping for a boy. If the girls are nonetheless treated equally, this would not be much of a problem. Unfortunately, girls get fewer resources than boys. The stopping behaviour means that girls tend to grow up in larger families. Even if parents treat their children equally, girls are disadvantaged by being in families with fewer resources to spend per child. Moreover, parents who passionately want sons, unsurprisingly, favour them once born. Boys are more likely to get immunisations. India shows a gender gap in stunting compared to other parts of the world, consistent with girls consuming less nutritious food.

Ya, India is in top for doing foeticide, discrimination b/w girl child & boy child, but in these days India govt inplemented many rules to avoid this situation/ discrimination.

But govn regulations are of no use ,as i wrote when govn banned determination of foetus sex to prevent female infanticide ,people started giving birth to girls and neglecting them as they have a desire of male child.the root cause that is the thinking of our society must be changed that can only give some results

I agree with you, we cannot change thinking & mentality of any person. That's why in india a slogan is famous -
Soch badlo
Bharat badlo
.

Yeah thats true

The roots of this problem lies in the ancient history of our civilization..."the male dominant or the patriarcal society formed by Aryans" who came to north india had a propesity towards the male child to fight in the battles. This tradition continued throughout our long historucal past and even got stronger and stronger with the brahamin dominant hindu laws that discriminated girls at each and every step from their male counterpart. Another major upthrust to this evil thinking was provided by Islam which is another example of Patriarcal society. During Medivial India when muslims ruled the sub-continent the condition of women continuously deteriorated. Some kind of revival to this backwardness came in 1820s when some reformers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Ishwar Chandra Vidhya Sagar took initiative to improve the condition of women in society. After the independence it was our 1st PM JL Nehru(who unfortunately is abused by many stupid indians just like MK Gandhi) and Dr. Ambedkar took the stand to bring HINDU CODE BILL which revived our society and gave women many rights, for example dual marriage was banned in hindu society. At that time nearly 80% of our national leaders opposed this reform but it was because of these two leaders our women got equal rights just as males.
But still these initiatives by our govt are zero if the thinking of our parents, brothers and sisters and all those citizens who live in that ancient era does not change... its an appeal to every one please take the facts given by @shubh007 in this article very seriously otherwise the day is near when we all will have to marry illiterate wives..😀😀
Mr. Nehru once said that "Nation in which the women do not have equal rights as men can never move on to the progressive path..forget about becoming a superpower".
