Patent For Three Point Seat-Belt

in mgsc •  7 years ago

A U.S. patent was issued to Swedish engineer, Nils Bohlin, for his three point seat-belt. The belt secured both the upper and lower body better than the earlier style of a single safety belt buckle placed over the abdomen. Volvo, where he worked as its first safety engineer, had introduced the belt in its cars in 1959. It made the patent free for all. The seat-belt is now fitted in every car and has saved millions.
