Suraj Verma who is convict of killing his parents and sister and then ransacking the house to make it look like robbery was addicted to the PUBG game and used to play it for very long time.
Suraj allegedly stabbed his father Mithilesh Verma (45), mother Siya Devi (35), and sister Neha Verma (15) to death on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday. “The incident took place before 4 am on Wednesday. Suraj allegedly killed his father while he was sleeping by inflicting multiple stab wounds on his abdomen. Hearing the commotion, his sister woke up and he allegedly stabbed her in the neck. His mother, too, woke up and tried to protect her daughter. When he stabbed his mother in the stomach, his sister was still alive, but he then started to ransack the house to mislead police,” a senior police officer said.
During investigation, the police found that Suraj had a WhatsApp group comprising nine to 10 friends, including girls, where they would talk about bunking classes and made other plans about hanging out, the officer said."His friends idolised him and considered him an icon. He had rented a room in Mehrauli along with his friends. At the room, they had a TV set and on the day he did not want to attend classes, he would stay at the room from 7 am to 6 pm and play a violent online game," said the officer.
Suraj was rebuked for flying kites on Independence Day by his family members, which is what made him hatch a plan to teach them a lesson. He was holding a grudge since his parents raised an objection about his lifestyle and his disinterest in studies.
