This is a 50-word micro-fiction piece for the contest hosted by @jayna found HERE.
The writing prompt is "WINE"

Ephesians 5:18 Redux
Fragrant, spiced bouquet; medium-body; sweet finish.
Craving sated then another pour.
Heady aroma; fuller-bodied; dry finish.
Increased thirst for another swallow.
Acrid, pungent, hateful liquid.
Demands another glass be downed.
Smell and taste like bile; retching vertigo.
With dawn, come illness, shame, regret.
With dusk, new bottles and a glass.

Nicely done, @sidekickmatt! This got me to look up Ephesians 5:18:

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

You have captured well the plight of the alcoholic — healed enough from the previous night’s debauchery to have a go all over again!

Sorry for the delay in responding. I often get busy during the week but I do catch up on the weekend!

No worries, same here. Yes, alcoholism can be a touchy subject. Could probably do a 50-word piece on "In Vino Veritas" next...

Good story, just can't get enough of the good (bad) stuff!

Thanks!
