It blows me away how many managers spend time trying to hiring the “right” person — then micromanage them.
Here’s how I think about management at work:
Don’t make people “earn your trust” - give trust up front, then take it away later if necessary.
Don’t get confused between legitimate criticism and your own subjective opinion about your employee’s creative output.
Letting people “roam free” and expose themselves is the ultimate version of “scale” - and you need to be unafraid of losses in the short term to be able to achieve that.
