The U.S. Department of Justice said the U.S. Air Force veteran, Larry Rendell Bullock Jr. was arrested in Texas on Jan. 10 and charged with knowingly entering a restricted building without legal authorization.

Brock retired from the Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel in 2014, U.S. Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanik said on Jan. 9. The spokesman responded in an email that Brock was an A-10 strike pilot in 2007. His position before retiring was as an admissions liaison officer at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Bullock was wearing a Kevlar helmet and military-marked body armor when he entered the Capitol. According to a press release, the U.S. Department of Justice charged Bullock with "violent home invasion and disorderly conduct. The U.S. Department of Justice said, "(The Bullock case) is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Department of Justice, National Security Division, Counterterrorism Section, with assistance from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas."

The first person to disclose information about Bullock's identity was Ronan Farrow, a reporter for the New Yorker. Farrow contacted Bullock and confirmed his involvement in the riot. Bullock told Farrow that he found the handcuffs on the floor and picked them up, but after that he regretted it. He also denied entering House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office, despite video footage of him walking out of it. "The New Yorker cited a deleted social media profile of Bullock, saying he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and has received six Air Force medals and three Air Achievement Medals.

This is not the first time a retired U.S. Army veteran has been featured in this chaotic clash at the U.S. Capitol. Previously a woman wearing a pro-Trump banner was shot and taken to the hospital where she died. Subsequent public information proved that the woman who was shot, Ashley Babbitt, was a veteran of many years of service before she was killed. Originally from San Diego, California, she had served in the U.S. Air Force for 14 years, with four overseas tours of duty, and was also a high-level security officer.
