Anxiety and fear can help us. They help us avoid dangerous things and prepare for the future, but they can also overwhelm us and stop us from moving forward. It's like indigestion of the heart, mind, and soul. You're made to be able to have anxiety, and to be able to deal with it. It's a skill you can learn. Here is Eli's response to learning it.
What is your name?
E. R.
If, for some odd reason, you could no longer do this type of emotional processing, would you be: very disappointed, somewhat disappointed, or not disappointed?
Very disappointed.
What is the worst moment from before you knew how to process your emotions?
Multiple feelings of being overcome or overburdened by the common stress of life.
What is the best moment after you learned how to process your emotions?
The best moment is the feeling of being able to let go and release through meditative practice all the
emotion and feeling that you have in relation to whatever it is you're experiencing in life at that moment. For me this has become a daily habit, I'm very pleased to have formed.
How has your attitude changed from before your training to after?
It's allowed me to grow and deepen my relationship with God, through other incorporated routines pre
meditation. So over all my attitude change is reflective, more conscious of the moment, and overall wellness improved a lot for me as a result, so overall positive influence on whatever daily attitude I've had has been much better.
How hard was it to learn to be aware of your sensations and your mind-body connection?
This took some practice, I didn't really know how to feel certain areas before I practiced the art of listening and meditating on them.
What was the hardest part of learning?
Just being patient through the learning curve, as it doesn't just happen based on something you read or are told, it's a skill you have to authentically foster and develop on your own.
What stopped you from doing this sooner?
Lack of knowledge, experience, and opportunity.
After the survey he also sent me this, just to explain more.
Review of Meditation
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to my friend Jeffrey Martin for introducing me to the transformative practice of meditation, especially when combined with prayer and scripture reading. This journey has profoundly impacted my life, and I am excited to share my experience.
Before I embraced these practices, I often felt overwhelmed by daily stress and uncertainty. However, incorporating meditation into my routine has provided me with a sense of calm and clarity that I never thought possible. Each session allows me to quiet my mind, center my thoughts, and cultivate a deeper connection to my inner self.
The beauty of combining meditation with prayer has been particularly powerful. During my quiet moments, I find that I can focus my intentions and express my gratitude, allowing me to deepen my spiritual connection. This practice has not only enhanced my sense of peace but has also helped me navigate life's challenges with a more grounded perspective.
Reading scripture alongside these practices has added another layer of richness to my experience. The wisdom found in these texts resonates deeply with me, offering guidance and comfort. It’s as if the words come alive during meditation, providing insights that I can carry with me throughout my day.
In summary, I can not recommend the combination of meditation, prayer, and scripture reading highly enough. It has enriched my life in countless ways, fostering resilience, peace, and a deeper spiritual connection. Thank you, Jeff, for guiding me toward this incredible journey. I encourage anyone seeking balance and fulfillment in their life to explore these practices—you may just discover the same transformative benefits that I have!
Thanks, Jeff!
Sincerely, Eli Richards
