In a day some millions of thoughts are crossing our mind, right from the time we wake up till we sleep. A lot of people suffer with insomnia due to this never ending thinking habit. A lot of people say at night when I try to sleep my mind gets more active with all different types of thoughts and then lose sleep. I have also experienced this for a long time in my life and still do at times but very rarely. Imagine if our mind is so much filled up where is the space for the new to enter. Already being clogged up means completely jammed up and no space for anything new to come in.
Do we realize that at times we clog up our minds with such unnecessary thoughts, like one of my friend says whenever she sits to pray she keeps getting all weird senseless thoughts like, what will she cook the next day, will she be on time for the evening gathering or what will be her husband's mood when he gets back home. So much unnecessary thoughts which really means nothing and then they take away all our energy to focus on things which are actually meant to be done. Our minds keep getting filled up day after day, pressing and pressurizing, without any release and there will be times when one fine day we may also reach to a point of explosion if these thoughts get too toxic and if we do not release them.
One of the reason for this unnecessary thoughts and over thinking is lack of focus. When we are doing one activity and our mind starts running around in all different directions thinking about other things and not getting involved completely in what we are actually doing is just because we lack our focus and concentration.
And we know a very simple answer to this is to start with a regular Meditation practice.
Today also let me give you one more technique which can be done in any part of the day and anywhere, and this technique is called;
Quantam Pause
Quantam Pause is a breathing technique which will help raise our focus and awareness into the moment. This technique will help raise our awareness and it will attune and unify the energy of our conscious and subconscious mind.
Source
This breathing technique helps create a void within by allowing our thoughts come to a still in those moments. When we go quiet in our mind and come to stillness we are in a position to reflect on what is important for us in our lives and we become more conscious of your actions.
It is a very simple process and very popular in Yoga. Should be done several times in a day, as I said can be done anytime.
The process to do the Quantam Pause is:
- Sit in upright position, back straight up and feet touching the ground
- Take a deep breathe in, mentally you can count up may be to start with 3 or 5 and as the practice gets better can be taken upto 10 to 12 also
- Hold the breathe to an equal count tha you have taken while breathing in
- Release the breathe again to an equal count
- Pause your breathe for the equal count (This is the most challenging part, but with practice gets better)
- Immediately repeat the cycle without any break
- Repeat the cycle as many times you can (minimum to start with 3)
If you break it up, in that time breathe normally and again start.
If you start with a count of 3, all four steps should be followed at a count of 3. The first 3 will be easy, but the 4th pause will look challenging to some, so depending on the pause that you can hold up with adjust your other counts.
With practice it will get better. I make it a point to do my Quantum pause a minimum of 3 times in a day, first one as soon as I get up I take a little sun bath and then do my Quantam Pause, 2nd mid day and the 3rd one before going to bed. And in each time I do 10 rounds of it.
The thing is that one should start in their own capacity and not push unnecessarily that may leave you breathless or uncomfortable. As the rule of Yoga says Sukham Sthiram Aasanam", the same rule needs to be followed here also.
To make it even better, soon after the Quantam Pause, make your affirmations, whatever you are following. I do a lot of affirmations immediately after my Quantam Pause, for e.g. one of it is "Raise my consciousness to the highest possible level with complete Awareness." And the affirmation part I keep doing along with doing my other household work, so it does not take away any extra time.
If done before going to bed, it will really help in getting a peaceful sleep and also one will get sleep almost immediately. The mind will be so free that it will not have any troubles in getting sleep.
One will start seeing a noticeable difference in the thought patterns in a period of 2 to 3 weeks if it is done regularly.
I hope this will be useful for you all in some way. I personally believe there is no point in wasting energy on things and thoughts which are really not important for us and rather we channel our energy into the direction which will help raise our own vibrations and make us mindful about the way we live our life.
