Mindfulness in March

in mindfulness •  7 years ago

I asked myself what I wanted for this blog two months into this year and had to define what makes it different. Otherwise, it would have been redundant to my Wordpress, too formal for my tumblr, too disconnected from Facebook, too long for twitter, too much.

I had the chance to engage with it fully last October with Inktober and got active with communities. But even then, it fell flat when my life started to run away from me.

So, in line with recent events- namely stress and the aim to get over it, I decided to go with Mindfulness for March.

Mind you, lol pun, I found this decision just last night, before falling asleep. You can even see the hastily posted Wordpress blog I had yesterday- short and to the point since I was ready to just block out the world for my Zzzs.

Anyways, what is Mindfulness?

Now, I don't claim to be an expert on this- but when the word is thrown, I think of adult coloring books, serene silence, meditation, introspection.

Wikipedia's ever helpful definition:

"Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which can be developed through the practice of meditation and other training."

I don't claim to be the most patient or saintly person. My temper has been hair-trigger back in high school, and my thoughts have quite a violent tinge in them every now ad then. But I'd like to keep my mind back in a good form and with 2018 shaping to be a tough challenge (really 2 months and I feel waaaay tired), I decided I'll need a reminder.

I'm not sure how to proceed thus far, but I hope I can manage- for this year's journey to being aware as I could be.

So March 1, what was the record?
Well, nothing extreme happened. Managed to stay a sane and calm person despite the regular nuances of reality and life.

Anything relevant to Mindfulness?
I suppose you could say I finally opened one of my adult coloring books. I purchased them in a recent book fair and totally forgot them. Cleaning for a bit and they were a treasure that I got.

I do sorely adore these books, but have never found time to go with them seriously.

Anyways, this is the book

I got the Artist Edition pop up book. Before I get slammed by copyright owners there, I do not claim to make her beautiful lineart. What I will claim is the colors (when I get around that).

Since I just dwelt for a good 30 minutes (spent mostly on hunting my coloring materials), let me hold the result to tomorrow.

So, catch you later? Tell me how your day happened~
