Human Touch Does Heal - Awareness is Key

I was very happy to see the encouraging comments for the Uniwoman introduceyourself post. Thank you very much every one :)

@joeyarnoldvn made the following comment, which in a very beautiful way puts words on the essentials of touch in a few sentences:

The human touch does heal, does help, and people lack it when they need it most in their lives. Agreed, the awareness is key in massages, as it helps add a lot of heart to it, something supernatural, unexplainable, but truly meaningful, and helpful.

Next time you and your partner get into a negative emotional state, or simply want to have a relaxing time together, try doing a touch practice. Touch can greatly help relaxing and being in the present, which is healing.

Put your hands on our partner, stay there with awareness and soft hands. Just be there with your hands. It can take time to feel comfortable with this, but keep on practising. You can move your hands to a new position now and then, but try to stay at the same place for at least 30 seconds (this will probably feel like a very long time!).

This is a very different way of being together compared to how we usually interact in every day life. It is friendly touch that connects without words.

Good places to touch are shoulders, head and feet. You can sit, lie down or stand. Awareness of the present is key. Feel your existence in the present, focus on the physical contact between you. If you drift away in a thought bubble, just go back to the contact with your hands.

Do this for 5 to 10 minutes, then switch places. Even a minute of touch can be valuable. Try to make this an every day practise. Let me know how it goes :)
