Staying True to Ourselves During Difficult Times

in mindfulness •  7 years ago

Even when we put considerable time and effort into finding our individual paths in life — and the things and acts that give us meaning — it can be difficult to stay "on track."

Living a mindful and meaningful life can be a lot of work! In fact, it almost always is.

The brightest light!

And because mindfulness is really more of a "practice" than anything, we also discover that we live in a world where many around us aren't part of that practice.

Often, when people start to waver from their intention, those feelings are accompanied by words like "It just seems like nobody cares!"

And that's quite frequently true.

The important thing in these situations is to remember that who you are and what you choose to do comes from inside you, and isn't necessarily the result of taking cues from others. Who you are, and what you believe comes from your own inner knowing!

During difficult times, it can feel like we're swimming against the current, when we insist on staying true to ourselves and "taking right action," while everyone around us is taking "the easy way out" and don't seem to give a second thought to the "collateral damage" their actions have on those around them, and their environment.

Just remember that "taking right action," is always the right thing to do!

Bright Blessings!

Sort Order:

Pleasure often gets placed ahead of contentment, in the short term.
I must make decisions based on How will I feel about this action later?

Well, seems to me we often are part of a very hedonistic society. People get terribly wrapped up in "feeling good." It's a bit like eating sugar: You might get a quick buzz, but there was zero ongoing nutrition.

Bright Blessings!
