Isn’t it strange that when people pass away to the other side and decide to speak with a medium that they can never remember their own name? Especially with the TV mediums? You always hear I am getting a message from someone who’s name starts with a P, Peet or Peter ah yes mam you knew a Peter. You never hear out of the bleu Donald, your aunt May is telling me you still owe her 50 dollars and by the way, that wedding ring you lost is behind the kitchen cupboard.

Cold Reading

We are probably dealing with the art of cold reading. Cold reading is an art form where you try to read a person by body language, muscle reading and fishing for information while being as vague as possible. What will happen is that the medium will have some hits and some non hits.

The Guessing Game

So for instance a medium will spot pet hair on your clothes and will say something like I sense you love animals and have pets. May be a dog or no wait I think you have a cat. What has happened is that the medium has tried to guess the kind of pet , of which he already knew was there but looked at the reaction of the person to find out weather it was a dog or a cat.

Another thing that happens is that the people who got a reading will only remember the positive hits.

Barnum Statements

Tell someone a flattering statement about him or herself that could be true for almost anyone and you have got yourself a Barnum statement.
