I don’t think it is the devices the kids played or are playing with.
Isn’t it maybe more the society which has changed dramatically?
Referring to the pics, back in the times of the upper part of the picture it was more likely that one family member was able to support his family with the job they got and gave the other family member the opportunity to look after the family and raise and educate them.
Today, many times both parents have to work to even make a living and sometimes even need a second job to achieve that and raising and education is pushed to somebody else, who maybe also has the same problem, or kids are given into a society which is governed by what you have and not by who you are and a society which is trying to make the young kids believe, that they can achieve ANYTHING they want if they just try hard enough.
Excuse my french, but this is BULLSHIT!
This is lying to the kids and there is a huge difference between lying to them for sake of motivation or really motivate them with a realistic approach without underestimating them!
If you promise them all, that they can achieve anything and later they find out, they have worked hard, did all they could with the best effort they can bring up but it was not enough for the goal they choose, there world might crumble when they find out that everyone, including there parents lied to them and then it comes down to your problem solving abilities!
And some see the first pic as a solution and not as an interesting item for other purposes then problem solving.
So the item is only a minor part of the problem, the big part is us and how we life together.
Society, family, friends, people, YOU and ME
