Hello again, dear Steemians!
I have seen people from time to time with a right mindset and outlook towards life; people who apparently had it all figured out. They knew what they wanted to do with their life and they actually took steps to achieve their goals.
But some of these people did not have happiness or contentment. It was as if all the purpose and meaning in the world could not give them tranquility and peace of mind.
What do this kind of people do wrong?
Let me tell you a story about someone who knew everything and wanted to do everything. Little did he know that our time in life is limited and we cannot blithely plan our moves and execute them perfectly.
An unfulfilled life is usually an unfinished one. Some people are in the habit of starting something with energy and enthusiasm, but they can never bring themselves to finish it.
After years go by and we grow old and pale, there will only be one regret with us, the feeling that we haven’t been able to finish anything we have started and see the effects of it on the world or the people around us.
The person I told you about earlier decided to write a book. He went on to write 100 pages of that book, and he was nearly finished with it. But then he found another branch of the big tree of life that he was already sitting on.
So, naturally, he left the process of writing that book and it never saw the light of day. His closest friends and relatives actually read chunks of the book, but they never knew how it ended.
He had decided to go to the music industry and learn how to play a guitar. He actually spent several years learning the instrument, but he did not really flesh out his skills. Eventually, he left it altogether.
Not that he wasn’t good enough, it was just that he was again starting to lose his focus. Several local bands invited him to play for them, but he refused them all, because he once again came to believe that his ‘purpose’ lied somewhere else.
A lot of us make the same mistake in life. We are ambitious and want to achieve everything, but end up gaining nothing, because we do not have the courage to finish what we have set out to do.
The next time you start doing something, make sure that you finish it. Keep telling yourself this: an unfulfilled life is an unfinished life. A life where the value of every task is undermined because of your unwillingness to finish it.
If you make a habit of leaving things before you have properly finished them, then you can be sure that you will never achieve anything of worth in this life, because you can never give yourself the chance to properly bring them to a result.

People have told me that I'm a good writer. They read my work and they go "hey, your work is great, you should write a book or start a blog". I started writing when I was in secondary school (high school) for fun. My friends admired my work. Somehow I got tired. When I got into college, I decided to start my own blog. I did, then I gave up because I couldn't get people to read my work. People have told me that my problem is my impatient. I heard about steemit, I joined. I thought, "It would be fun...getting paid to do what you love". I haven't got many followers to read my work, it weakened me. I felt that maybe I shouldn't be doing this. I agree with your realization that it is important to have determination in doing things. It seems to me, however, that many people do not quite set out in the right direction in the first place.
In my old dojo there was a saying for kids that went something like this: "It doesn't matter where you go as long as the direction is right".
In this context I would say that, yes it is important and quite difficult to finish things, but before that one should think about if the thing being done is logical/right at all. Such an action requires wisdom and courage.

I have a family member who is like that, he never ends what he starts, the most contradictory thing is that he is a person with many skills, but he is very inconstant .. he starts doing things and then he gets bored or annoyed and leaves him half or almost to finish, I think that this reflects instability in people .. leaving things unfinished.

@chbartist, the richest place on earth is often referred to as cemetery. This is because there lies people of great wisdom and knowledge and most of them did not finish their course in life. There are a lot of people around the world these days that are exhibiting this habit and most of them are possessed and of course some are cursed and then normal ones also. This is a message to us all in this community and to endeavour to finish a course and be happy. There is happiness in a finished course in life. I think if you are at that point you only are aware of the fact that all the studying, all that working, making career was wasted time.. as soon as you get ill or old you are kicked out and replaced and you are a big nobody.. so the only question that remains is: what did I really do for me!

It is true that we get full enthusiasm for achieving any purpose, but we do not have the courage to fulfill them when we reach the conclusion that we reach the goal. Our ambitions force us to hit our hands in every field. And in the end, we get disappointment from all sides. With the change in the means of production, there is a change in the nature of the human. Whenever there is a change of time, there is a change in the structure of the society, due to which our brain is not fixed on any one purpose. We are moving towards a decent primitive society but regret is not complete, incomplete is finding out.
