BUILDING A MULTI GPU MINING RIG

Well I wanted to make a post to help other build a mining rig as I found getting info to be a little tough based on the parts I was using. Hopefully my tale of how I did it will help others not only build their rig but also help spark interest in someone to build one without being a computer guru.
Let me start by what you need and what I used:
Motherboard IMG_1355.JPG
CPU IMG_1357.JPG
4 gigs of RAM ![IMG_1359.JPG] ()
Power supply for me 1000w is minimum because I am running some big cards IMG_1356.JPG
Video cards or GPU IMG_1350.JPG
ssd harddrive IMG_1358.JPG
And something to mount the board on and the always forgotten about POWER BUTTON!!! I took one from an old desktop I had. It isn't needed but is highly preferred so your not jumping pins with a screw driver all the time while you set things up.

To mount my mother board I proudly used my kids legos to build a base. It does the job and I thought was pretty cool. Was easy to reconfigure until I got things where I wanted but honestly anything will do.

Once you have things mounted I can't stress enough CABLE MANAGEMENT! After two cards it gets crazy if your trying to keep things compact.
Because I'm using #nvidia gtx 1080 ti cards they use a lot of power so for a 1000w power supply you can only run 3 cards. I currently have 4 so I had to get a second power supply.
Now the build:
Flash your motherboard with the latest bios
Then install your operating system. I'm running ubuntu. I like it it's a preference thing. Then GET THE LATEST DRIVERS FOR YOUR VIDEO CARD. This will greatly improve your hash power.
Once that is done download and install ccminer and then compline it and following the directions of a pool you join. I like suprnova you can create a start up string and begin mining. Make sure you go to the pools website to set up your "worker" or your going to be mining to nowhere.
If your going past 3 cards in your motherboard bios usually under advanced settings you will need to enable 4g decoding and also increase the PCI latency for each card to be set at 16 per card. So for 4 cards that's 64.
Something I forgot to mention to add to your shopping list is PCI express risers. This allows you to add those cards away from your motherboard.
My set up looks like thisIMG_1394.JPG
I hope this helps some people any questions feel free to ask I'm more then Willing to try and help you.
Happy mining

Also im stuck on how to plug 2 PSU on the same rig. Ill be needing it since ill be using 6x1080ti. Thank you, nice post.
