Taking My Mining To A Whole New Level!!
Well this week has been a very long and interesting one. Spent the good portion of Tuesday putting together the industrial shelf system I ordered for my miners. I have finally decided I am going to head towards the farming life with the mining game. So in order to prepare I decided some organization towards this miner's dream was in need.
The list of what is is under the hood now:
4 ASUS GTX 1080 TI OC's
2 ASUS GTX 1080 Advanced
2 ASUS GTX 1060 OC's
1 GAWMINER FALCON (Scrypt ASIC)
2 Antminer S4s (limited runs on this, too power hungry)
The goal for the next year is to fill this shelf up and maybe expand as we go towards another one. I have 2 of my GTX 1080 TI's actually in my gaming rig and do this rotation now where I plan to stick with the TI's when purchasing and take out the old ones and replace them with new in the system. This way I can feel fine mining in my pc and send the old ones out to the farm for 24/7 usage as I expand up.
....though my gaming rig less games and more mines now a days..lol
So far with everything combined, we are pulling in about $720 extra on Nicehash after a good week run now on this setup, not too bad. Normally I would mine on direct pools but lately I been lazy so back on Nicehash for the time being out of convenience. Might earn a hair less this way but keeping up with all these ups and downs in crypto and resetting up all these miners is hell, so Nicehash it is.
I do not run mining boards, not as of yet. Kind of found a minimal trick around that by going on Ebay and buying some beaters of computers to use as miner controllers. On my 4 card system I am using an HP Pavilion 6200 i3 that I got for $50 bucks, not a bad deal at all. Had to use a 4 way riser splitter and caught hell for a day getting the cards to recognize but they finally took after a few reboots and hooking up the HDMI to each, one at a time.
On my 2 TI setup with this rig I have another HP Pavilion 6200 i5 that I got for $100 that has been running pretty well with the 2 cards, so I think I may keep running these on them and get a mining board later for expansions. Wattage is actually about the same at the wall as what I would pull with a mining specific board so I guess old PC's are still of value in this mining game after all.
Anyways, I figured I would share the new project I am putting together. Always nice to get that extra income but it does cost to invest. I figure at this stage with all together pulling in the amount of 1 GTX 1080 TI in a month, my ROI is looking way better so its getting more profitable the more I add to the collection at this stage. To me its more about 2018-2020 and being prepared for bigger gains, have a feeling we haven't seen anything yet in crypto so its time to have the tools on hand in preparation.
Good stuff! How much heat is your rig generating, does the metal framing get hot at all? Have you though of additional fans?

Actually what is really odd, no heat at all out of this setup lol. I must have spaced them just right because my hottest card, one of the GTX 1080 TI's is maxing out at only 47 C but I have also put liquid metal in these, I found doing that really helps keep longevity on cards you mine with, just have to keep checks on them every 6 months or so and reapply.
The fans I have on there, they literally never run, I have them on a curve to kick in 100% when it tops above 55 C seeing usually when it hits around there it climbs fast. So far though really good, hasn't had to turn them on yet at all. Before I had them pretty close together and it really heated up the house but with this set up its been doing well all week.

Nice one, pulling some good $$ out of those. I started pointing one of my cards at Monero the other week and happy I did. Kinda wish I would have pointed them all, but oh well. When not using Nicehash which pools do you use? Suprnova?
My rig is still small, 2 RX 470's 8gb and a 1050TI. I've been waiting for the RX 56's or 64's to drop in price so I can scoop 2 of them up. Baby steps. Can't divert too much capital from going into the portfolio.
Yes, the gains are all in the future. If someone would have been mining in April their profits would be 4x - 6x right now. Ya, you have to invest in the power, but it's a no brainer if you believe in crypto adoption. 10x is just around the corner.

Hey there buddy, glad to hear from you. Monero is always a good one to have on hand and with the cards you got a wise one to get on with them. Also look at VERTCOIN, that is top dog at the moment for mining, but I just run it on Nicehash lol...lazy.
Pool wise I am on them all, you guys see a miner named FRENCHFRY pop up, that is me always lol. I locked that username down on virtually all the pools out there and always looking for me. Basically I try to mine on whatever hits at the moment. SUPRNOVA is one I go to regularly but if its gets too full blown with too many miners, then I look around for pools with less. It breaks down like this, if you can find a balanced pool on a coin, one with less but not to low with miners you can find better returns I found. If there is too many its just a battle for coins lol...you may get faster returns but its split out more among more people so the cuts are lower.
Baby step it by the way, how I did it and eventually it all adds up. I got a little cloud mining too but I hate them lol....figure just as free spending money later I can forget about and enjoy mid year next year
