Nicehash is down and $60 milllion was stolen from a BTC wallet. A sad day for the home miner
well i lost my payout for the week. I saw that my mining rigs were not connecting to the stratum servers yesterday morning. I went to Nicehashes twitter and sure enough they said they were down and working on it. Didn't think much of it at the time but by mid day their statement regarding the hack was released

Even if they manage to survive this hack the damage to trust is done. I pesonally loved Nicehashes service, there is no easier one click gui miner out there. Auto profit switching, payouts in BTC, support for AMD and Nvidia GPUs, whats not to love? Sure the fees were a bit higher than other pools but i guess you pay for the convenience.
Sad day for the home miner
This was a Slovenian crypto exchange.
The claim is that it was a "sophisticated hack".
Makes you wonder... what if someone wanted to open an exchange in a foreign country, only to have it get "hacked" for $64 million so that someone can claim "whoops, we got duped!", even though that someone is actually the duper.
I could be wrong, but because of how profitable BTC is right now, it would make perfect sense. There has been a lot of fraud with a number of exchanges as it is. I would bet my proposed theory is very possible and perhaps even likely.

Apparently they just did a short live stream but I don't do facebook so I haven't seen it. The reddit crowd seems to think NiceHash is done for good even after the stream. I'm looking for an alternative as well. Mining without NiceHash feels like so much more work!
