Cabin in the woods

I went to a cabin in the woods this weekend with my FG, @mininthecity

It was dark when we arrived. The cabin, wedged between a low bluff and the shore of a frozen lake was invisible from the trailhead. The dark, the howling wind, swaying trees and the frozen landscape had my imagination racing.

"This feels like a Murder Cabin".

Worse, the front door wouldn't open, and I had no cell service. I went looking for a side door along the deck. A deck covered in ice with six inch high melt blobs who's sole purpose was to guide my feet (and body) straight into the frozen lake below. And that's when it happened.

I found the murder cabin's Murder Porch.

Complete with:

  • Murder Chandelier
  • Murder Wine Bottle
  • and Murder Flamingos

Worse, the porch led nowhere. A wall of wood. A locked door. And ice.

Eventually we did find our way inside, to a warm stove, cute kitchen and good places to sleep.

We went skiing on the (very) windy lake today and enjoyed being otherwise cooped up.

Here's FG warming by the (very) hot stove of our little murder cabin. So cozy and cute.

So far, though the knives in the kitchen are suspiciously sharp, I'm really enjoying the experience of this place. If I survive the next few days I'll tell you more about it.

I solved the murder mystery! It was Mrs. Peacock, in the kitchen, with the candlestick. #clue
