Arhg, I blew 50 Steem through a transaction with a bot confusing memo.

I am truly thankful to the team @minnowbooster for helping me out with the noobie mistake of mine that I made in a first attempt of purchasing Steem Delegation.

@reggaemuffin and @bulleth did a great job in fixing the problem, and making it fool-proof so that even if a minnow like me, makes an error in a transaction, the bot will now refund the transaction.

I was literally tearing my hair out at the thought that I had lost 50 Steem through a simple memo error "for 4 weeks delegation of 2500 steem, thanks"

Not realising that it would not be a human transaction and that the bot only needed the number "4" It found an account "@for" and delegated my Steem away. The transactions could not be reversed.

After a couple of restless nights, I was put onto Steemit.Chat where we managed to discuss a solution, and I could not be more thankful to @bulleth for his help there.

I now have my 2500 Steem delegated for 4 weeks and intend to share the Upvote Love.

@minnowbooster current rates for Steem Delegation purchases are:
150 SP for 4 Weeks cost 4 STEEM
75 SP for 1-3 weeks cost 1 STEEM (per week)

So, if you want to increase your Voting Power, send your Steem to @minnowbooster and in the memo just put a number for the amount of weeks you want Delegation, example: 4

If you gave 40 Steem, that will give you approximately 1,500 extra Steem Power for 4 weeks.

Glad it worked out.

We are glad this could be resolved and that you are whole again :) Resteemed

It takes courage and bravery to admit we made a mistake. Happy this got fixed up for you and that you were able to prevent this from happening to others. Sounds like a great outcome!

woops, I got no Steem anyway.

Not so confusing after all.

it great Prime cleric thanks for this infomation

I can attest to the fact that minnowsupportproject has been wonderful to me. @aggroed and @bulleth and @reggaemuffin have helped me through thevdiscord channel every single I screwed up.
Last time I was in the chat there was a heated debate about edible undies but you count on these guys to spend a ton of time helping you if you ever asked. That's dedication and I love those guys even if they had a mouthful of some weird latex strawberry or something. Vote for them as witnesses

They have my total respect in the way my problem was handled, although I was confused at the start, now don't choke on those undies, lol

Hahaha thanks guys, though we are not minnowsupport project - that is a not for profit - we are a biz!

Also we do have some pretty lively chats on the discord, but I don't think it's ever gotten as far as edible undies ... that definitely sounds like general chat in the PAL server!

Thats pretty cool thank God it worked!

I blew SBDs once by sending them to @bellyrub after his voting policy was changed so I missed a 0.6% which I deserved from it.
The other time was today, when I sent 1.41SBDs to @promote my post
https://steemit.com/steemit/@stimialiti/to-dan-ned-the-witnesses-and-to-everyone-invested-in-this-platform-to-save-steemit-this-is-what-you-should-do

And got a 0.41$ worth upvote which even went down further in value due to STEEM and SBD going down the gutter.

Better pay @randowhale and @booster than to @promote, and the worst thing is that my post never even appeared in promoted, nor in steemit, which is its main tag.

Thanks for the information

and glad you got it back

little help please

Great news, sir :D

Thank you for using my services to resteem your post.
After I saw your story I am thinking of doing something similar for people who send wrong memos.
Currently, if there is a problem with the transaction, I only notify people, with a transaction of 0.001 SBD. I did that because I was afraid of leaving openings for being exploited by a hacker.
After reading your post I am thinking of making my bot better for the newbies as well.
Basically: "if a post can't be resteemed, the bot will try to give the money back."

But it will not happen right away.
Right now I am abroad on vacation.
I will fix the code when I have the chance.

Minnowbooster is doing that a long time now, just send back the amount you got. That saves us many support problems :)

Minnowbooster are big investors and serious players. They have the ability (and responsibility) to spend more attention and time on their code.
I am just a dude with a computer. I work on the bot only until my wife becomes angry and starts pushing me away from the PC.
Do not expect me to work on the same standard as them.

Well I am the main coder for minnowbooster ;) We may have a team that helps with many things but the code is still mostly done by me.

If you need advice on how to detect many problems with steem, I may be able to help you implement them. Many are really easy to fix once you know it.

Most of these errors got fixed by a user complaining, me checking on what happened and what a clue was, that something is wrong, then just sending the money back once I notice that clue.

I fixed problems in similar manner.
The biggest difference is the time I am willing to spend on fixing problems.
I am a lot less invested in Steem, after all.

As for difficulties - so far I haven't had any.

Happy for your recovery. You got what you needed. Having more SP will definitely benefit. I think the SP goes back but the Steem doesn't come back once invested. No refund.

Makes me

Thank God u got ur hard earned money back........upvote and follow u......same needed..

I am glad it worked out for you in the end. Praise God.

jajaja tuviste suerte amigo.
Saludos.

Thanks
"Hahaha you were lucky friend
I do not understand the translations well, so talking to a robot to do some transactions has seemed complicated. I look like a baby learning to crawl! So I explore for the posts to get some information and learn a little. Thanks for this info! And lucky that everything was solved. Otherwise you would not have any hair on your head anymore. Greetings."

Hmm..cleared things up for me on how to use @minnowbooster. But I want to ask you based on your personal experiences, is spending 40 Steem for 4 weeks of delegation actually worth it? I mean, can you earn back the Steam you've spent with added profits?

Would have to check back in 4 weeks.

Hmmm..following you. Hope you can post about your experience with it as a learning opportunity for new Steemians like myself.

Congratulations @prime-cleric for getting a boost on your SP!

I was keeping an eye on your disputed transaction and was waiting for this post. I'm glad that everything was resolved quickly. I checked @for's a/c and found it's 5000SP was undelegated. They were telling that it will take a week and cost 50 Steem! So did @minnowbooster make a loss on this transaction?

But whatever, I'm thankful for your mistake. It requires a certain level of creativity to make such intriguing blunders 😉 See, it took 22,000 transactions to commit this one. Hope it gave their team a good lesson to tweak their bot code for the better!

All the best with your power-loaded upvote journey ahead!

Not too sure of the details, but the team at minnowbooster did fix the bot memo issue and delegated to myself from their own account.
