What I wonder is: the massive use of bots will not destroy steemit? Slowly but surely will make the platform less credible. If I have no faith in the upvotes then the platform will seem fake and people will ditch it. Youtube had this problem 7-10 years ago and it messed up with their advertising model. For steemit there is the same sort of legitimacy problem. Think of it as a programming arms race: clever programmers circumvent the system, but youtube has a legion of nerds too.
Costant battle.
Steemit is small and vulnerable. It may survive, it may not. I think of steemit as an experiment.
Many of us are using bots and contributing to the ROT!

this situation is kind of similiar to how Google has been dealing with spammers so they can used as an example for this. For them a vote is a link, the more of those you have the more like you're to be on the 1st page. So, they implemented ways to make sure it's not just about links (votes). They created ways to make sure that content is also good by looking different factors like original content, lenght of content, weight of the votes (what used to be pagerank) or here could be whate followers/votes and random manual review if some flags come up. The same can be implemented here with bots and time goes by they can become a lot more sophisticated. I see steemit becoming its ecosystem with its own complex search algorithms they can take rewards beyond 7 days with news way to earn them.

Speaking about search.... steemit has one of the worst search/filtering system I've seen in a (social) website... we need a better search... probably a website like google that is offchain (for faster searching) and has as many filtering systems as possible (by user, by multiple tags, by content, and by images)

It is amazing in the sense that it moves and circulates possibly stagnant steemit power but on the other hand, does it just apply upvotes to possibly unworthy posts and with a multitude of bots, it may perhaps push unworthy blogs to the hot page.

For the user who wants quick money, it is a genius idea. For the actual steem community is it the best thing ? Still on the fence with this decision

So eventhough minnowbooster got 2.5 million delegation and constantly voting everything with preposterous daily 6SBD or something. Correct me if I'm Wrong ? You guys still want to buy people's vote for what ? to empower your voting power and business ? It is a quite greedy move to increase public hate to upvote bots you guys upvote ratio is too high and it pollutes the system. At least if you are really determined to continue this nonsense I reccomend you to create a decent and complicated curation projects instead of empowering your business.

I don't think minnowbooster is helping any new users with this program. It makes abusing the system appealing and I don't think it is quite good for the distrubition of wealth in steemit in long term.

I would really want to see you guys using your voting power on some decent curation projects instead of this.

We have big plans for limiting abuse of the bot and are currently in contact with multiple big curation projects to learn from their experience.

While we don't have all solutions at once we are trying to improve our service gradually and are thankful for your feedback! We are already doing a lot more than other bots for limiting abuse and spam to the system. We watch for cheetah flags and we have a blacklist where spammers can be put on so we refuse service to them. While that does not prevent abuse, it certainly helps it from growing overboard and we hope other bots employ similar measures.

If you have any ideas on how we can improve, I would love to hear them. If there are lists of known abusers you can share, we can add them. If there are signs someone is spamming that don't lock out genuine users, we can detect them. If we are actually able to do it, chances are high we will. We are working with steemcleaners and willl work with other groups who try to keep steem clean of spam.

To the general question if voting bots are good or not for steem, that is not for me to decide. Currently there is a huge discovery problem with steem and bots provide a means to promote your post. I am always happy to discuss improvements of the steem ecosystem and try to fuel the discussion on how we can improve botting and how we can prevent bad bots. Please mention me in posts about that topic should you write one :)

I think you should look @steemcleaners posts if you don't already. Those highlight posts not to support and it will help if no bots do. I wrote a post about that a while ago. Steemcleaner tells you guys what is "bad" but then I went and looked and found a lot of those posts with bot support only! I think if you guys get off those it would be a good step - not just you but all the bots.

At least this is a way to circulate some of the revenue. I will buy votes as I can until my posts are over $10 - then I just let the post payout. At least with your votes, I don't feel like such a loser. I put them on during Day 6 when I do, so they aren't on my feed too long.It helps me and my voters and puts some cash into sp easily. I see no downside and I'm glad you guys are doing this. Get more people to invest because many of them are wasting their voting power as it is.

People buy upvote, but those upvote don't pay for himselve in most cases. @minnowbooster upvote 17$ for 17$ transfer. After a week people get 8.5 to SBD and 8.5 to Power. they have less and less, and eventually have ZERO.

This is autoclining system. It produces and kills problem. Poor get poorer, rich get richer.

Can you back up that you got $17 for a 17 SBD send? That is something that should not happen. We don't allow 17SBD currently and it was probably more like a 9SBD send for a $17 upvote.

If you really got such a vote, show me and I refund you the difference between what you should have gotten and what you got.

Can you give me more info where you heard this or what vote did not work? Steem is really weird and stuff like this can happen so I want to find the user and compensate them. Generally we try to give you anything from 1.5 to 3 times your send as return so you are always in the green after curation is applied. If steem price changes the upvote value changes too and that can be up or down.

Hi, I have a doubt. How do you plan to regulate the consumption of Voting Power? Because I have subscribed and what I see, is that the consumption of my VP is really fast. I put a limit close to 60% and I do not know when it reaches that limit, how does the bot work?

Simple:
• You say us what voting power is your minimum (you set that to 60%)
• We require you to have more voting power than the @minnowbooster account

Should one of these two constraints be violated, you will be skipped when looking for a voter. That means your voting power will likely recover until you pass both criteria.

So if you want to sell your vote as much as possible, set your limit to 20% or so. That way we use your vote as much as we feel comfortable with.

If you for example only want to sell excess voting power over 90% and never dip too much so you can churn out big manual votes for the posters you love, then set your minimum to 90% and we will skip you once you get under that limit (be it by us using your vote or by you using your account normally).

We can't give you any information on when and how often we use your vote as that is out of our control. When someone sends us a request and your account is the best fit (and passes both VP criteria) we use it. If not than not.

I do not really know how the algorithm works, but I think it is not convenient for me to configure my VP close to 20%, since it would be generating much less profits and therefore, I would be generating less profits for myself. Maybe I'm wrong and you can correct me.

My problem is also that I'm a curator of the Spanish-speaking community and my account already votes post from my community.

I think the most convenient solution is, if I see that the bot of minnowbooster, consumes very fast my VP, I will manually deauthorize it and when I retrieve VP, I will re-authorize it. I do not know if there is any problem with that? Can I authorize and deauthorize the bot manually, when I want?

Technically for your earnings it does not matter if your voting power is at 100% or at 50%. We pay you for what we take and that is directly correlated with the amount of voting power we use. So 1% voting power gives you the same amount of SBD at 95% or at 65%.

You can always deauthorize (or just flip the setting on minnowbooster.net) both work as on/off switches and are under your control.

If you want to retrieve voting power or keep voting power over a certain level, I can really suggest you use the voting limit. You currently set it at 61% so once your account is at or under 61% we stop using it.

If you manually curate, maybe setting your voting power limit to 80% can be a good idea. That way you can make big votes and still make use of excess voting power.

You are amazing for providing such an amazing service mate! I hadn't used @minnowbooster until my last post, but had seen it around a heap. It is well worth putting the SBD in when the vote percentage is at least 1 and a half or more of the SBD value.
I got lucky to get almost triple the value and I will possibly look at doing some other services at some point.

Hello, @minnowbooster! I think this service of selling one's votes to MB might be a good one. It will eliminate production of spam content by Steemians. However, it might make whales, orcas and dolphins to vote less for minnows and redfish. My question is will one get the SBD instantly, if I decide to sell a vote or one there will be a waiting period of 7 days?

I saw the parameters above with the minimum, same thing as the url page....so what is the point of the minimum if it's only taking less than 1SBD or more than 6? I sent 1, a pretty simple standard amount, got my own nonsensical message with an amount that I hadn't sent. Color me confused.

Don't get me wrong, you've done nothing but right by me....but it was hard enough keeping up with the changing minimums, but now....I dunno. HALP

We are currently in need of more people who vote for us, so we can fulfill the requests. Steem is really shitty in low % voting so 1sbd would not work with minnowbooster at the moment. We have some users who can vote 1sbd but their voting power is currently recovering.

Hi minnowbooster! I mess up every single time I send an upvote request to you and I'm sorry! Could you please write a post for idiots like me to explain what amounts we should send you so we don't get rejected in our wallets?

I don't understand why $7 sbd would be good and $.01 sbd would be good, but $5 sbd would be bad - all at the same time lol. You are talking to an old grandma lady that does not understand 80% of what I'm doing here at steemit so please! Any help will be good help.

delegating my SP is out of the question for me at the moment (to small) but this will hopefully give me a little extra growth potential
Just a small thing when setting up you can change till what Voting power you want to go down but there is just a slider without the value so you can only kindof roughly guess (please add some numbers so its more exact)

I love it when interesting thoughts are made to conceive beautiful projects such as this. @minnowbooster for me is doing more good in this ecosystem.

So, I thought this would be a pretty cool thing and I decided to try it.

I've done everyting I should and nothing happened the first 24 hours or so. No one bought my votes.

That being said, someone just bought votes and this is rather odd. First of all, they've already passed the "limit" I set. - My VP has gone below the limit I've chosen, so this should be looked into. - As my VP is draining fast.

Secondly, all the votes have been at 100% too and someone have bought 20+ votes. Which is why my VP is draining like crazy.

So, as I'm a first time user, I could be wrong.. Which is why I make this reply.

Are the votes you sell at 100%?
Can you change this?
Does the limit work or not?
As of now, it seems like people can buy your votes no matter the limit you set.

At least, that happened to me.

Edit:
How about the balance? - It says you'll see it directly on minnowbooster? - Can someone tell me exactly where, as I can't seem to find it.

I've now been drained down to 20% VP, and I had a limit to 40% from the beginning. I changed that to 45% instead, but I continue to get drained.

Either I'm the one who've done something wrong... Or this doesn't work properly.

Hey @hitmeasap,

I checked our system and we have not used your vote (as it is too low). It could be your account is hacked? Or does f.e. your streemian have some rules enabled that started this voting?

I suggest you change your keys if you are sure it was not streemian and not steemvoter. Minnowbooster checks your voting power and respects your limits, so someone else hat cast these votes.

Oh.. I would have preferred to hear it was some sort of glitch. I do use Streemian but I've never had any problems with it at all, I follow 2 different curators and both of them are manually voting and I've also set up my account so it shouldn't drain too much VP.

This is something else. I was 100% sure that it was due to minnowbooster as this is the only thing I've logged into using my credentials. It started out with a follow, and then tons of upvotes. More than 20+ 100% votes and drained down to ~16%..

Damn, this is bad news.

These seem to be the main drain at the moment. Did you recognize them? If not maybe that is where you can start looking for blame.

I'd love to tell you it was MB and would have given you a huge refund for my fuckup but that is not the case. All MB votes get logged and you did note vote with us.

If you want, hit me up on discord and I'll help you pinpoint what happened and where the drain came from. There are services abusing peoples keys and the faster we find out what happened the faster we can nuke them.

I wouldn't have cared about any refunds or anything. I mean, it's just VP so it's not the end of the world or anything. - I appreciate it though. :)

I would have loved to hear it was some kind of glitch, as that would've given me a good answer for this immediately. Now, I'll have to investigate this and I am thankful for any help I can get with this. - I just can't understand why they would target someone like me and I have no idea how they got my passwords.. - I'm totally clueless.

Can you list what services do you use?

You authorized streemian. What rules etc did you enable there?

Did you use steemvoter? If yes, what rules do you have there?

Do you use steemfollower?

Did you give someone your posting key?

I've never shared my passwords with anyone. I haven't used steemfollower or anything besides Streemian. The other day (I guess it's like 35-40 hours ago or something) I logged in to minnowbooster, and that's the last time I've entered any credentials at all. Which was the reason I was certain this had to do with MB. :/

This is the settings for Streemian.

I follow teamsteem & papa-pepper. And I use the same for both.

I might have logged in to steemvoter several months ago, but I've never used it. I can't really tell if I logged in or not as it's literally ages ago.

So, I basically use steemd.com, steemit.com and streemian. I've been using Streemian for a long time now and I did the things I had to do to start follow teamsteem and papa, and haven't logged in since then.

Weird, I don't think that was it.

You changed your keys, right? That should lock out everyone except minnowbooster and stremian. And then we see what happens.

We could probably check which key signed the votes if it was really important. Would have to check how to do that first 😅

Ok. I thought I understood but I guess I don't. I delegated SP to market using Minnowbooster. I did see daily 'payouts' in my wallet. The time period has elapsed. How do I get my SP back? or did I? My wallet still shows a negative balance. I am still a newbie at all this. Thx for any info.

If we keep taking upvote in exchange of SBD then the post will be less priorities. But if was really want to get popularity and sincerity of our post we need the help of @minnowbooster This is fake, instead one get immediate response along with extra SBD. This is good source of boosting and too run the Steemit for long run.
