I really wish I understood all of this better. Though this post seems informative, it really made me feel even more lost in this whole process.
What is this platform for...I mean, I want to make friends and get quality information, but I am constantly coming upon bots and spam.
How do I actually make this site work for me? I, of course, would like to make monies, but how do I get seen when I am running up against what I now know to be termed "whales?"
Some of these whales say they want to help "minnows," but then say they will not support people over a certain level. Why? I have come to find that the levels mean nothing when it comes to the amount of people who will even see your post, vs all these "bot me this" and "Bot you that" things out there.
I have been spending lots of my fake internet money on these bots-of-this-and-that. Do I need to just keep doing that until I get 1000s of followers?
Give money to the bots until I am still beneath them, but getting more of a share?
I am not going to give up, or anything---don't take me that way. I just want to know what to expect...and maybe some advice.
I don't have all the answers by any means...but my idea moving forward is going to be leasing SP (Steem Power) from places like @minnowbooster ...this way I can post quality content with an upvote, and upvote additional quality content I find on the platform...my reason for taking this approach is simple...the more SP you have, the greater impact you have when casting an upvote...in addition, you should also receive more for curating content...which is a win/win/win system if I'm doing this right...but again, I'm no expert...hell, I don't even play one on TV...hope this helps :)

Yeah, that kinda confuses me more...
You can rent SP? Like, I don't even have a car or house lease 'cause I don't trust myself.
I really appreciate your answer, though. Maybe it will file in my brain once I can figure out all the pieces.

Steem Power is what determines how valuable your upvote is...for instance, my voting weight right now is 2,280 Steem Power...when my voting power is at 100%, a single upvote from me comes to about $0.65 cents USD (US Dollars)...if I leased another 2,280 Steem Power from someone, then my upvote at 100% would be at least $1.30 USD (under the current market prices)...when you upvote a post, comment, or reply, you also receive compensation for content curation...the more SP you have the more curation compensation you can expect when payouts for upvotes come due...I hope this doesn't add to the confusion...

I get that part, pretty much, I think...just think it is odd that one can lease more. Wouldn't it be better for someone to have a bunch and keep it? Why would they let it go? How do you do a transaction to lease more? What makes it mandatory to give it back? What makes it worth anything to pay something to lease SP--I know that you get rewards for your curation, but how long does it take to add up to what you are paying to lease the SP? How long do you lease it for?
It all sounds so complicated to me. I guess I am gonna keep plugging along, trying to get my stuff re-steemed (and maybe occasionally boosted) so I get followers. Luckily I have a couple good followers already, I think that will help me to get recognized. I get too flummoxed by much more.
